Through programs developed in collaboration with our partners around the world, HMI conducts community-based HIV/AIDS education and training programs in regions among the most impacted by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The programs have the dual purpose of contributing to the development of an infrastructure to support care and prevention services, and training more health care providers to understand the medical, social, and infrastructural challenges posed by HIV/AIDS. HMI's HIV/AIDS education programs address the full spectrum of HIV/AIDS-related issues, exploring the epidemiological impact at both the global and country level, as well as presenting the latest knowledge in the clinical areas, including the principles of antiretroviral therapy, treatment of AIDS complications, prevention of mother-to-child transmission, and patient communication and education.
